The Alerus will be released in 2021 and will compete against the Nissan Pathfinder.

Subaru surprised the Los Angeles Auto Show with a surprise appearance. This was one week after the global debut in Japan. The all-new Solterra is an electric SUV similar to Toyota’s.

Both cars are designed in the same way as the BRZ/GR 86 sports coupes.

The Solterra will not be available from Toyota dealers in Canada. While it may be heavily dependent on Toyota’s technology and knowledge, the Solterra’s exterior design is nearly identical. However, the Solterra still displays the pioneering spirit for Subaru. This vehicle actually features the iconic “Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive” system.

A reliable, brand new all-wheel drive vehicle (AWD) that is high quality and extremely reliable.

The Toyota bZ4X is only available with a single-motor FWD motor, while the Subaru Solterra in Canada will only be available with a dual motor AWD. Each motor produces 80kW of power and consumes energy from a 71.4 kWh battery. This gives the Solterra 215 horsepower and 246 pound-feet. It also has 354 kilometers of range.

The Solterra is approximately the same size and length as the Subaru Forester. It also has a longer wheelbase which makes it more comfortable inside. It will be competing with models such as the Ford Mustang Mach-E and Volkswagen ID.4, as well as the forthcoming Nissan Ariya. One trim level is planned, but customers can choose from two packages. The first includes safety and driver assistance features and the other has 20-inch wheels. The second package comes with synthetic leather seats and a 12.3 inch touchscreen.

The 2023 Subaru Solterra is made in Japan and will be available by Toyota next summer. What difference does pricing make to the Toyota Solterra, which is almost identical in appearance and uses similar technology? It’s unlikely. We came to the conclusion, after speaking with Subaru executives at L.A. Auto Show that the Solterra would be approximately the same price as the bZ4X.

Mystery Strategy

Toyota and Subaru collaborate on marketing plans for both vehicles. Obviously, availability will be a major consideration when potential consumers weigh their options—unless they want a vehicle with a greater range, in which case they will have to choose Toyota.

The Subaru Solterra is a premium automobile that should not have any trouble attracting a large customer base, especially in Quebec where EVs are more common and government incentives are higher. We don’t think Subaru will sell the Solterra for more than $45,000, as it would be ineligible to receive the $5,000 Ottawa reduction.
